Coûteux has always known war. The sun comes up in the morning, the rains come in the winter, and the government is overthrown by the rebels. It has reached such a point that most civilians just try to stay out of the way whenever tensions rise, and most of the time it works…but this war is different.
The government is oppressing the people with uncommon zeal, taxing the food off their plates, fixing elections, and jailing any and all opposition. The rebels, known as the Vainqueur, have gone even further, targeting and killing civilians, impressing the healthy ones into their army. What’s more, Ajax International, a mercenary company, has come to the island and is secretly playing one side off the other, looking to gain as much wealth from the conflict as possible.
Coûteux is in need of a hero; someone to rise up and gather the people and lead them to freedom, but where will this hero come from? Will it be a rebel who finds a morale compass? A servant of the government who has become sick of the corruption? A mercenary who becomes personally involved? A civilian who finds his strength?
Will it be you?
