Alcoza is a land torn apart by war and corruption. The king, Hashim, is the worst of them all. Wrapped in his own selfish comforts, he ignores the needs of his country, and his wicked advisor, Noriev, practically runs the country.
Things have run down hill since the death of Hashim's father, Renault, during the war with the neighboring country of Zanzhara. Drout, famine, and most prominant of all, corruption. The nobles run rampant, the slave trade has tripled in value and prosperity, and the peasants struggle to continue in the way of life they've prospered in for so long. Work is almost non existant, since slave labor is free.
There are rumors, however, of a rebel force forming under the leadership of a man named Azim. Though dangerous and unlikely, Azim has taken matters into his own hands and intends to dethrone Hashim and repair his broken country.
The attempt has not gone unoticed. Norieve has put together a group of elite soldiers called the Echos, whose sole task is to search out and destroy Azim and his men.
