equines of ashland a wild-mythical horse roleplay based on the breed created by effix
click! ____________________________________________________ [x]EoA is based on a created breed that adheres to strict social standings where their society is based on base color, mutations and colored markings. The Hybridae Equus(copyright to effix) is a highly intelligent, social breed of equine. They thrive on daily interaction with others of their kind and there are rarely quarrels among the herds because of the way the herds are segregated. Mares are powerless, stallions and power hungry. Fillies are often used in deals between herds and males are often so skittish about other stallions that they often kill all colts born except their heir because they don't want a threat to their throne. ____________________________________________________ basic information the equines that reside in ashland are more of a hybrid type of creature. they possess mutations, wings, cloven hooves ect., but their body type, breed and base colors are the same as a normal horse. these equines that live in ashland are called hybridae equus, the scientific term that is tossed at them for their hybrid type. they come in all basic horse colors and carry the genes for normal horse markings but they also carry genes for wings, horns and colored markings, like blue blazes and silver socks.
genetics regular equine genetics apply to base colors and markings. however, when it comes to their mutations, the genes are as follows: wings - WW, Ww, ww(no wings) cloven hooves - HH, Hh, hh(cloven hooves) feathered wings - FF, Ff, ff(no feathers) dragon/bat wings - DD, Dd, dd(dragon/bat wings) unicorn horn - UU, Uu, uu(no horn) lion tail - LL, Ll, ll(no lion tail, normal horse tail)
All first generation horses(i.e horses not born on EoA) are considered homozygous for their mutations. All second generations and onward that are foaled will be genetically correct according to their parents and will be given their set of mutation genes apon birth.
society the equines here and highly social animals and if a horse has the correct base color but the wrong mutations, they are often accepted into the herd but will stand out. the horses here thrive on strict social orders and a dictator like leader. what the lead says, goes, no matter what. the herdmistress is more like a mare to carry the heirs to the throne, nothing more, nothing less. in their society, males are superior and femals are used for breeding. males are highly territorial and will fiercely guard their females. most males are reluctant to have more then three extra males in their herd unless they are very war oriented and feel like building up an army. the lead breeds with all his mares, his herdmistress is just their to give him heirs to the throne and is always dethroned from her position if she does not foal a colt on the maiden mating. after that, if she foals a colt she is sometimes dethrone depending on the stallion. fillies are highly valuable after the heir if given because fillies are often used for trading and deals among herds.
base, markings colors and mutations and their importance to the equines here, they base color is the most important to them. if the horse is a grey but has a horn and the right marking colors to join the bay/chestnut herd, it won't be accepted. if the horses had to pick one thing to go by it would be the base color and that's often what they do go by, that and only that. most of the time the only equines who fufill each requirement are the herdmaster, herdmistress and their foals. the patterns of a horse(i.e paint and apploosa patterns, as well as brindle, birdcatcher ect) are of little importance to the horses here. the markings colors are next on the importance list. if everything fits but the marking color is wrong, the equine is often accepted anyway but the leaders like their herds to be uniform in every way possible. ____________________________________________________ [x]Care to join us? The equine want your hybrid monster. The yearning to be free, the yearning to be given some kind of responsibility. The gods have forwarned these horses that a rebellion may ensue because of their social order. The mares heeded the warning and have tried to change it. But those stubborn males won't budge. Well, all except that is, Tutnir. Hated by the rest of the males, he let's his herdmistress run the herd while he scouts for members. The thunder was thrown, the war erupted and the gods spared Tutnir because of his attitude. Tutnir had one son, Aker, who now rules his herd and hopes to restore Ashland to it's once former glory.
